Evidently they come out of the package in the open position.

That’s approximately $2 2 of Mobil 1 on the floor. Doh! In my defense I was letting the kids do most of the work,  but because I was worried about cross threading the new plug-valve I put that in myself.

I’ve come so close to pouring in oil with no plug in at all. Because I’d always let it drain for awhile. Now I have a process, drain oil, change filter, thread in plug, torque plug, fill oil, thread on cap. This way you get all the under the car stuff done all at once.

Wouldn’t have helped you but it helps me.

Growing up, there was a section of grass in my yard that would never grow. Out neighbor informed my dad that it was where everyone did their oil changes “ back in the day”.

There was even foreshadowing- my wife told me she wanted me to get the floor epoxied soon before I make a big mess. She knows me.
